Private Members Clubs Guide

Private members clubs are the invisible architecture of the global elite — spaces where deals are made over breakfast, where the right introduction opens doors that remain firmly closed to the public. From the legendary Annabel's in London to Soho House's global empire, VIPMAKKI's ultimate guide reveals the world's most exclusive clubrooms: their histories, their membership criteria, their waiting lists, and — most importantly — how to gain access. This is the guide no club wants published.

The World's Most Exclusive Private Members Clubs

From London's aristocratic clubland to the global rise of Soho House, these are the rooms where the world is run.

Annabel's — 46 Berkeley Square

Annabel's is the most famous private members club in the world. Founded by Mark Birley in 1963 and named after his wife, it was the only club the Queen is said to have visited. The original location at 44 Berkeley Square hosted every icon of the 20th century — Frank Sinatra, Aristotle Onassis, Princess Diana, the Rolling Stones. In 2018, Annabel's moved to a six-story Georgian townhouse at 46 Berkeley Square — a maximalist fever dream of silk wallpapers, hand-painted ceilings, a jungle-themed Garden Room, and a basement nightclub that remains London's most glamorous room after midnight.

5 Hertford Street (5HS)

If Annabel's is where the establishment socializes, 5 Hertford Street is where the establishment governs. Founded by Robin Birley, 5HS is arguably London's most powerful private club — a labyrinth of rooms across a Mayfair townhouse. The décor is a deliberate rebellion against Annabel's opulence — dark woods, tartan carpets, hunting scenes. The kitchen serves perhaps the best club food in the world. The waiting list is closed — members are admitted only through personal relationships. 5HS does not have a website. It does not advertise. It simply exists as the most discreet power hub in Europe.

Soho House — The Global Creative Empire

Soho House began in 1995 as a single townhouse on Greek Street in London, conceived by Nick Jones as a home for the creative industries. Today it spans 40+ houses across four continents — from Berlin's Bauhaus department store to Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire to Mumbai overlooking the Arabian Sea. The Every House membership provides access to all houses globally. VIPMAKKI advises on successful membership strategies and can facilitate introductions for qualified clients.

Accessing Private Clubs

Most clubs do not accept unsolicited membership applications. Entry is through introduction — a current member who knows you personally. VIPMAKKI's global network includes members of every club listed. For qualified clients, we facilitate introductions, advise on membership strategies, and manage the application process.
